Ubiquiti NZ: UniFi Product Guide, Best Sellers and What's New in 2026
Business Networking & Wi-Fi · Updated July 2026 · KW Tech Networking Team
If you've spent any time comparing business Wi-Fi gear in New Zealand, you've almost certainly run into the name Ubiquiti. It's the brand that convinced a lot of small businesses — and more than a few serious home users — that they didn't need an enterprise IT budget to get enterprise-grade networking. One app, one dashboard, and a catalogue that stretches from a $260 access point to full campus security systems. Here's what the brand actually covers, which products our customers keep coming back for, what's new for 2026, and where to find genuine stock with a GST invoice attached.
What Is Ubiquiti, Really?
Ubiquiti Inc. is a US networking manufacturer best known for its UniFi product line — a single ecosystem that covers Wi-Fi, wired switching, routing, security cameras, door access and even ISP-grade wireless links, all managed from one app instead of five different logins. That's the actual reason it's popular with small-to-medium NZ businesses: a cafe, a small warehouse or a 10-person office can run professional networking and security without hiring a dedicated network admin to manage it.
The UniFi Ecosystem, in Plain English
- UniFi Network — the core: cloud gateways, switches and access points. This is where most people start, usually with a gateway like the UCG-Ultra and one or two access points.
- UniFi Protect — IP cameras and NVR storage, with on-device AI that can tell the difference between a person, a vehicle and a stray cat without a separate subscription.
- UniFi Access — door readers, locks and visitor management. The newest of the major product lines, and the fastest-growing in 2026.
- UISP / airFiber — point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless bridges, the gear ISPs and rural NZ properties use to get gigabit links across a paddock or between buildings without trenching fibre.

What's New From Ubiquiti in 2026
The biggest shift in the UniFi lineup this year isn't networking at all — it's how fast UniFi Access has grown up. Ubiquiti's newest readers now support Apple Touch Pass (tap your iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock, no app required) alongside card, PIN and fingerprint options, and the wider Protect line has expanded into environmental sensing — smoke alarms, air-quality and vape detection sensors are now part of the same app that already runs your cameras and access points. For a business already on UniFi Network, adding door access or environmental monitoring is now a software decision more than a hardware one.
Why Buy Ubiquiti From KW Tech
Ubiquiti gear gets parallel-imported and grey-marketed more than most networking brands, which matters at warranty time. Every Ubiquiti product on kwtech.co.nz is genuine NZ stock held in our own Auckland warehouse, covered by full local warranty, and every order gets a GST invoice by default — useful if you're claiming it as a business expense. Orders placed before end of day typically ship the same or next business day.
