Die Gorilla war auch mit einem manuellen 4-Gang-Getriebe ausgestattet, im Gegensatz zum automatischen 3-Gang-System der Monkey. Die Produktion wurde 1992 eingestellt, doch die Popularität der Maschine ließ nicht nach, und die wenigen verbliebenen gebrauchten Gorillas erzielten Premiumpreise. Im Februar 1998 nahm Honda die Produktion wieder auf, diesmal mit einer neuen Gorilla, die mit dem großen Scheinwerfer der Monkey ausgestattet war und Chromteile am Scheinwerfergehäuse, Kotflügel und an anderen Stellen verwendete.
