The design represented an excellent balance of all-terrain speed, protection, and firepower, effectively incorporating the operational experience gained by the Wehrmacht during the early years of the conflict. On roads, the vehicle could reach a top speed of 85 km\/h. Among the various versions produced, the Sd.Kfz. 234\/1 often served as a command vehicle.
