"Power over eSATA" (eSATAp) means that devices taking advantage of this specification no longer require a separate power supply when using eSATA, they draw power for the drive directly from the host system through the Power over eSATA cable/connector connection. A "Power over eSATA" connector is a hybrid of both eSATA and USB2.0, so that it supports USB A Type/eSATA/eSATAp devices.

The Welland EZSTOR essential Power over eSATA kit consists of a single port eSATAp extension card for PC and an eSATAp cable for connecting to a SATA storage device. eSATAp ports and connectors combine eSATA with +5V and +12V power support, so when connecting to hard drives, no extra power supply is required. You can simply install the eSATAp kit in your PC system and enjoy stable and high speed eSATA performance.
